DON'T exaggerate, please!

Dear, a short 6-12 days diet is ONE thing, a long-term diet (month, year, LIFE...) is ANOTHER thing.
During a short diet diet you can "skip" certain food, it won't harm your body.
But during a long-term diet, avoiding certain food can be a disaster for your organism!

bleeding gums
Being firmly convinced that bread makes you fat, I excluded bread, pasta, cookies etc. (everything made from flour). The result? After 2-3 months of dieting (summer of '97), my gums started to bleed...

I panicked. But since I like understanding things... I give it a thought. I am a healthy person, it couldn't be cancer... (I get thoughts like that sometimes...) I had no gum problems before. What exactly did I do wrong? My diet!
What did I excluded from my food? BREAD. So I started eating one slice of bread (whole wheat bread) every day. In one week my gums were perfect again! And this did NOT affect my diet. I will never do THAT mistake again!
hair loss
By the fall of '97, I started loosing my hair! Even if I don't have much... I still care for it! I got panicked again. This was the result of: 1. stress  2. TOO exclusive diet.
After having that gums problem, then my hair... I definitely decided to build my diet wisely.

Some people say that we "change" our hair from time to time, like my dog does... OK, I won't argue with that... but I knew, somehow, that this was the result of what I did (more precisely what I didn't do / eat).

My body told me (in it's own subtle way) I was doing something wrong, something he didn't like...
conclusion
So, what I want to tell you is that you have two options if you want to loose weight:
  • a short term diet, if you don't have much weight to loose. You can give up eating certain food. Then followed by a period of "relaxation" during which you eat normally (I mean NORMALLY, like a normal person, not an obese). After some months you can start again the short term diet, if necessary.
  • a long term diet, which should NOT be a restrictive diet.
NO  WAY    NO  WAY     NO  WAY
    You got that?
It's wise to make some tests again after a "hard" restrictive diet. To see if your body is OK, or misses something: Calcium, Magnesium, Iron, how is the heart functioning etc. Fat as it is, don't push your body too much. It's your body, after all.
